Lebap velayat is an administrative unit in the east of Turkmenistan. The administrative center of the velayat is the city of Turkmenabad.
The economy of the velayat is determined by large reserves of mineral raw materials, as well as rich land and water resources. The leading role belongs to the branches of the fuel and energy complex, which account for about 35.5% of the region’s industrial production. The leading industries are oil refining and gas production, which are represented by such giants as the Seydi Oil Refinery and the Nayip liquefied gas production complex. The chemical industry focuses on the production of mineral fertilizers from local raw materials.
